this new cloud nothings album sounds great. everything isn’t one big GAIN FEST, which my ears appreciate, plus i feel like all the instruments are “into it”, you know?
like anti-apathy rock that still kinda doesn’t care because they care so much and it’s frustrating… RIGHT THOUGH!?
so in less than a month i’m heading to los angeles to record my second album. yes, all of the new songs i’ve been playing at gigs for the past couple years are finally going to be put to tape! and yes, this means, the follow up to The Promise EP!
i’ll be co-producing this album with my good friend will golden (who worked on The Promise EP with me), engineered by the wonderful tom biller, who has worked on some pretty amazing stuff in the past (elliott smith, fiona apple, kate nash, etc.).
naturally, I AM BURSTING WITH EXCITEMENT. i have 3 shows before i leave in june, and then i’m off! i’ve felt ready to do this for a while now… i know i’ve been playing the contents of this new album for long enough where they are safe to be taken to record…
of course there will be updates from LA while i’m in the studio!

today is my birthday.
are you one of those people who likes to pretend their birthday doesn’t exist, or do you like big parties and everyone singing at you?
i like it when you give someone a present, and they refuse it out of politeness, but then they take it too far, and you spend 20 minutes arguing about it until you literally have to FORCE your gift upon them.
when my family gifted me tickets to see radiohead this summer, i definitely did not oppose.
honestly though, my favorite part about birthdays are the automated emails you get from various mailing lists that somehow have your birthdate, that say something along the lines of “Happy Birthday, Mr./Mrs./Miss ‘FERRARO’, celebrate by purchasing one of our brand new etc. etc. etc.”
they know me so well.
